    Default Re: wedding dress disaster

    Hi Everyone,
It's 4 weeks before our weddingicon & I am absolutely gutted to say that I too am a victim of Johnsons incompetance & lack of care regarding the dry cleaning of my Wedding dress. I totally sympathise with all of you. I took my dress in to Johnsons to be cleaned on 02/02/08 & got it back on 16/02/08 only to find that when I got my dress home & opened the bag that they had completely wrecked it:

My dress is a beautiful ivory silk 'pre-loved' gown with silk coiled roses over the shoulder-line & down the back. All it needed was a little TLC before I could wear it on the big day & so I took it to the most reputable dry cleaning company I could think of which was Johnsons. I paid £65.15p for dry cleaning & the dress was sent away to be "expertly" dry cleaned. I took it out of the bag when I got home only to find that all the silk roses had become uncoiled & were just hanging limply from the dress by threads. I was & still am devastated.

Johnsons did not inform me that any damage had occured during cleaning - they just handed the dress over the counter & that was it. They have refused to take responsibility for their carelessness, they will not repair my dress, they do not return our calls, they will not refund my dry cleaning, their customer service department is obstructive & unhelpful & now my fiance has seen my dress before the wedding which I am upset about. I only have 4 weeks to go & I need to get my dress fixed. Why should I have to shoulder the burden of this financially & emotionally? It's not my fault Johnsons are so incompetant & careless! How could anyone with even half a conscience let that mess up pass quality control. These big places just know they can get away with it because they have the monopoly of the market. My fiance has spent the past 3 days on the phone trying to get the matter resolved & it has totally ruined this part of the run-up to the Wedding. The Textile regulatory body which governs Johnsons informed us that the way Johnsons clean Wedding dresses is not with the expert care & attention which their website suggests, but they put the dress in a net bag & into a vat of solvent!!! This is a despicable way to treat the most precious dress anyone will ever own & I find it totally unacceptable! I will never use Johnsons again & will inform anyone else I speak to of the bad experience.

I really hope my dress is repairable & at such short notice........

Sorry I've just ranted on, but I really am so upset about it. Please let me know if anyone has any advice on this mess up, thanks
