Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have CCa'd Connaught Collections last April for a copy of a CC agreement. They returned my £1 cheque and said they will request agreement from OC then nothing until 1st Feb asking me to phone. I did not.
Today I had an obnoxious person on the phone.
(No personal data was asked for)
First he asked if he could discuss why I was not paying my debt.
I told him to look in the file for my letter.
He read it to me over the phone.
He said I was just using this as an excuse not to pay the debt.
I asked if he knew the ins and outs of the DPA.
He said this is nothing to do with DPA and that I had paid them £*** and why had I stopped.
I said I am not prepared to discuss this on the phone and hung up.
Within 10 seconds he phoned again and asked why I was being 'childish' and he would keep phoning until I discussed this with him.
I hung up again.
Again within 10 seconds he phoned again. (I have caller display and knew it was him) I disconnected the call without speaking.
10 seconds later, him again, I again disconnected the call.
Then another call after 10 seconds, I cut him off.
By this time I was extremely annoyed with this ar*****e as this could go on all day.
I answered the next call after the 10 seconds, it was him again. He waffled on for about 4 mins about the debt and asked me various questions, which I declined to answer.
He said that the debt could be transfered to another DCA and they would then hassle me.
I said they could not do that because of DPA. He said OC could do it and I would still get hassled.
He said he would phone every day until a payment agreement was reached.
I let him rant on and when he was finished I hung up.
That was 6 calls within about 10 mins.
I was so mad that I did not get his name. (Wish I had now)
I immediately typed a harassment letter and sent it RD to them.
I am sure these people thumb their nose at the law in the hope of bullying people into paying.
As was said to me once...'courage brother, do not stumble' Get them reported. Next time they phone ask them to hold on and then after a short period tell them you have the call recorder set up and invite them to carry on with their call lol
If that had of been me on the receiving end of that guy on the phone - id have quite happily chatted away to him for as long as need be..........after all it was his/their phone bill & after 5 minutes of me acting/talking like a crazy fool on the phone, i assure he wouldnt have phoned back

Hi M Tom
I was so gobsmacke with his attitude I was a bit lost for words. I never have had anyone calling back that many times and would not take no for an answer.
I think I sent them a very forceful letter. I can post it up if anyone is interested. T33
