Hello everyone, am really glad to be a member of this forum. My name is May and i just finished my studies and looking for a full time job. The problem is with my llyods TSB account. i had an overdraft of 30pds during december, 2007 and i recieved a letter fromm llyods that i have OD fees of £114.72 inclusive of daily charges and monthly charges. After speaking with the collections department on the 4th, they asked me to hand in myy debit card so that the charges wld stop until i can pay back by the end of month and i gave them back my debit card on that day. I also paid in 115pds to cover my debts on 28th jan,2008.
Today, i received another letter that i have further £75 OD on 1st of February for the period of 4.12.2007-12.12.2007 and 168pds OD for the period of 4.01.2008-12.01.2008 to be taken by March 2008. This is outrageous and very unfair, plus the fact that my debit card was destroyed on the 4th of january,2008 to stop charges and i was given a cash card and i have never used that account since then.
Do i have to pay the £168pds for the 4.01.2008-12.01.2008 despite the fact that i stopped using a debit account and my debit card was destroyed on the 4th of january, 2008 and i was assured that further charges would not be made to my account.
I cant believe that this Bank can be soo frustrating and i wld reallyy love to close my acct.

Re: New member seeking advice on LLyods TSB charges
Hello May.
Do you have another bank account into which you can pay your income/grants/benefits or whatever? If so, then start using it. If you haven't, then get one as soon as possible, even if it is only a basic account. Stop ltsb eating into any more of your money.
Have you incurred any charges before December? Ifso, have you got details of them?
Re: New member seeking advice on LLyods TSB charges
Hi Els,
I stopped using the account since end of december,2007 because i have another account with Natwest. But it seems the money they are claiming are just charges from the £30pds OD i used which was charged daily and monthly to total 114.72 OD and even though i paid that off on january, 28th 2008, they r still asking for another £75.08 OD to be paid now and £168 OD to be paid by march, 2008 and it seems the charges would keep adding up till God knows when..
Re: New member seeking advice on LLyods TSB charges
There was an initial charge of £75 which was added to my OD which resulted in £114.72OD on 2nd january,2008. I paid that off
Further daily and monthly charges that they claim are for 4.12.2007 -13.12.2007 which is £75.00 ( still on the same overdraft of up to £35 since December,2007) to be taken this month.
I got the letter today and was shocked because i thought i had offset the charges by paying in £115 and stopped using the account since 28th december, 2007.
In the same letter, they are also claiming further daily and monthly charges for the period of 4.01.2008 till 12.01.2008 which wld be taken out by march, 2008.....meanwhile, my debit card was destroyed on the 4th of january, 2008 and they claimed that they would stop further charges from the 4th january.
Re: New member seeking advice on LLyods TSB charges
If you intend to reclaim the charges, you should send LTSB a preliminary approach for repayment. Include all the charges you know about including the ones yet to be applied. If they continue to apply charges, add them on to the total when you send your letter before action.
If you want to stop the charges being applied you will have to pay in sufficient to cover not only the charges already advised, but also any further charges which may be applied.
You don't have to pay LTSB any more money but you should be aware that the charges will continue to be applied and the balance will grow. Eventually LTSB might write off the debt and pass it to a DCA, which could cause you some problems.
