Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
This query is really regarding a second hand motorbike I part exchanged against another bike. It was a private sale rather than through a dealer however. Apologies for posting here, I didn't know what other section to put it under.
The bike was mis-represented and specifically on one major point, the deal was done with a 'transferable warranty' mentioned on the advert. Looks like this was a load of crap as I contacted the company regarding a couple of issues I've found with the bike. Been back in touch with the guy who said he'd sort them but he's fabricating documents that look as if the warranty company is getting involved. I spoke to them directly today and they've never been contacted and the warranty isn't transferable.
OK - hands up I've been a complete numpty - I HPI checked the bike and took the guy on his word that everything was fine with the bike. The thing is the guy is such a good liar. final straw came tonight when he couldn't take my call because his son is gravely ill in hospital.
So.....is there anything I can do here? Is there anything I can do legally to seek compensation for misrepresentation?
