Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am in trouble at the moment with my bank, i am now over £500 overdrawn on top of my £1000 overdraft. Now i could pay this back in time but i am only 19 and i only went around £30 over my limit. However they have taken over £400 in charges for failed direct debit and now i just got hit with nearly £140 worth of charges.
Will the bank write to me to pay this now includung my overdraft?
Will they come to my house?
I do not use that account anymore as it was a student account and i used the overdraft instead of a student loan.
i simply can not afford to pay nearly £1500 in one go. its just not possible.
i can pay so much in a month and possibley get it sorted within a few months however im scared they come to my house and expect the money there and then.

Yes.

No.

They won't come to your house. There charges are unlawful and you should start the proces of claiming these back (they may even come to more than the amount of the overdraft). Stop panicking and please read the FAQ's here
Should i find a way of paying all of this money or do i leave it and claim? will they still write to me if i have cliamed or will the account be put on hold untill after the test case?
Its hard not to get worried when banks send letters to your house demanding over £1000 back.
First thing I would do is set up an account with a different bank if you haven't done it already. It doesn't have to be a current account, a basic bank account will fulfill most of your needs.
Should i find a way of paying all of this money or do i leave it and claim?
Certainly the amount that you borrowed you should pay back. The amount made up of charges I certainly wouldn't.

They'll probably write to you but this is nothing to be afraid of. If they do write to you let us know and we can help you with dealing with it.

I appreciate that, but remember that what banks often state and what are the facts are often poles apart. Read the link I posted earlier and start disputing the account.
Yes i have an account with Lloyds as well, my wages are paid into there.
I will tonight start the dispute.
What form do i send first im not very good with long information sorry.
One other thing
The bank terms and conditions state that they can not charge more than around £105 a day.
However they have charged me £170 in one go?
I did not see how this is possible can someone shed some light on to this.
