    Default store/creditcard,loan ppi

after successfully claiming back bank charges from four banks last year i have now decided to get some PPIicon payments refunded.the most recent is for a loan with marks and spencer which finished last september.this i feel will be the easiest as it was fairly recent and the monthly payments stayed the same.the others are for a burtons store card and a Lloydsicon tsb credit card.the credit card i have had for at least 14years and i naively believed it was just normal practice for the ppi to be added as i dont remember asking for it.the burtons card i have also had for a few years.as i am self-employed (a fact they would have known from filling in the necessary application forms)i feel i have a case for mis-selling.i have two questions.

1.how on earth can i arrive at a figure to claim back on the store and credit cards when the amount of ppi varied with the balance on the card from month to month.
2.can i claim back the ppi right back to the start date of both of the cards although im not absolutely sure when they actually started at the moment.

i would appreciate any help and advise.thanks

    Hi davethecabbie,

Sorry, I've just noticed that you haven't had a response to the above yet. Hopefully, somebody will be along to advise you further soon. In the meantime, have you requested all of your statements/information from all companies to enable you to proceed fully with all claims?

    Best of luck

i was considering claiming PPIicon that i had on a loan with marks and spencers.i applied for the loan on-line in 2003 with ppi of £1440 added to the begining of the loan.i have just dug out the paperwork, one of my hopes was that i was self-employed and this would prove my trump card.however, there is a section that seems to indicate that i would still be able to claim against unemployment.here it is word for word.

for the self-employed it means you are entirely out of work because your business has failed,or the business of the company of which you are a controlling director has failed.temporary cessation or trading or periods of unemployment due to shortage of work is not covered.

so it would seem that they have covered themselves.any advice would would be appreciated.

    Hello Dave,

When you applied for the loan ???on line, was the ppi added in the quote or was it optional.. Were you aware that they would have also charged you interesticon of the ppi and added it to the total charge to credit.

Ok you have quoted from the t&c of the policy, so was it of any use to you!!!!!!!

two figures were quoted, one with PPIicon and one without so it was optional.i wasnt aware that the total ppi would be added to the loan so that interesticon would be charged on it though.in theory the policy might have been useful but i never actually put it to the test so who knows if i would have paid out.
