So glad i just found this forum. Anyway I would like a little help regarding payment from an employer.
I work for a company overseas however the company complies to all UK laws, part of the contract and along with the contract the company has with the HM Customs we are of a Tax Free Status Tax Code NT. I have been paying Tax since working for the company for a few months finally got the "payment" thorough" however as I am off sick at present they overpaid me and deducted it all ! I am entitled to approx 72 pound a week SSP i am paid only 800 pound per month for working and off sick i was paid 800 pound and ended up with only 50 pound at the month that also included my tax rebate of 800 pound
My question is: Tax Rebate classed as wages! and how the hell did they come to the conclusion that i was overpaid by only 400 pound that they deduct 1150 pound in total
I reside in Germany its working for a company called NAAFI alongside the British Army I am British and not registered in Germany all laws are underwritten by the British its as if I am working in UK just on a Tax Free basis
NAAFI staff (and some other MoD contractors) working in Germany remain on the UK tax system because of the NATO Status of Forces Agreement. However, salaries are abated by 13% when on the NT tax code. It's an anachronistic system that doesn't really help anyone.
JohnnyDee, you need to speak to NAAFI's HR department and ask them to explain what they've done. I hope their HR is better than their PAYD catering!
Thanks I already knew that...basically I had my rebate took off me as i owed back payment and I argued that they were not entitled to as its not a naafi agreement but nato agreement so am i right in saying naafi took my tax rebate when not allowed to as its not a wage...only thing i found on this was that a wage is classed as normal pay holiday pay car and working entitlements etc couldnt find anything about tax rebate itself as its from the government not naafi paying me it
HAHA with the PAYD system is bad words escape me hence only 4 weeks left of employment and back to normality for myself
