l won over 5k from nat west in 2005 and moved my account to RBS. Has anyone else had new tlc's? the unauthorised overdraft fee is now called a "maitenance fee" it's still £28.00 though! forgot a payment of £21 got charged £38.00 and now am being charged this maitenance charge of £28.00. Has anyone got these charges waived by RBS as l was thinking or ringing my branch and asking for it back or are they all just waiting for the result of the test case? Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

I think it's safe to say that whatever they call it, it's still a charge, and £28 is excessive to say the least.

I suppose the first thing to do would be to phone them, I have generally found that they will refund a charge if you haven't had one for a while, and it's only a quick call so nothing to lose.

If it fails, then your back to square one, and you need to decide what action you want to ake. For 1 charge, it may be worth just waiting and seing what happens for a couple of months and then deciding.

They used to revoke charges but i think they might have a different policy since the test case came about.

In the past i have had charges revoked after a quick phonecall but now when i call up they are very very adamant that i should suffer the charge.

I dont know if this has to do with me claiming £430 back last year or not.

I would still give them a call though. Its always worth a try.

the unauthorised overdraft fee is now called a "maitenance fee"

In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “how many tails does a dog have if you call its tail a leg? Four. Calling its tail a leg does not make it a leg.”

Please note nothing I say constitutes legal advice.

after being contacted by customer care then speaking to customer relations l will need to ask for the £66 in writing and no doubt it will go on the pile with all the others whilst they wait for the result of the test case
