Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
i have been reading some of the posts and getting some info from those posts. I estimate my charges are around £4000. How ever i am new to all this but thought i would join in and let every one know how i get on with my case against the Abbey. I have been with abbey for nearly 6 years and i have just finsihed writting SAR requesting all the inforation they hold on me and i will be posting it tomorrow with my cheque for a tenner. I found the letter on a nother post and i am using the same one, i hope that is ok..... i would be grateful if a couple of you could let me know your comments on the letter as my spelling and english is rubbish. i am sure i will be asking a lot of questions later on so any help any one can give would be great.
the letter i will be sending is below

Please supply me with a complete list of transactions and charges relating to my banking history with your organization for the past 6 years. Alternatively, a complete set of statements for that period will be acceptable.
Additionally, where there has been any event in my account history over this period which has required manual intervention by any member of your staff, or any other person, I require disclosure of any indication or notes which have either caused or resulted in that manual intervention, or other evidence of that manual intervention in relation to my banking business with you.
If you are unable to supply this data because there has been no such manual intervention, then please be so kind as to confirm this in your response.
I enclose the statutory maximum fee of £10. You have 40 days in which to comply. Furthermore, if I discover that you have levied disproportionate penalties against me, then I shall be reclaiming them, and also reclaiming the enclosed £10 Data Protection Act Subject access request fee.
If there is specific information which you require in order to satisfy yourself as to my identity, please let me know by return. However, please note that the above address is the one which you normally use to communicate my private business to me and which you have hitherto found to be acceptable.
I would be happy to collect the Data from my local branch.
Please note, this is not a letter of complaint. It is a request for my banking history with your organization since my account opened on 22nd Sept 2001.
hey billy boy, instead of posting it, why dont you take it to them personally, get them to give you a receipt for the money, and your 40 days start from there.

p.s i would not worry about spelling, they misspell on there letters also!!

I have just spoken to a freind of mine, they are a journalist for a daily paper as is intrested to know how i get on and what happens, do you think i should bring this to the attention of the Abbey? if so when should i do this?
Got another letter from Abbey the other day, saying the usual thing about data on microfinch not being part of the data protection. will have 2 c what 2 do now. any ideas any one?
sent another letter, telling them they have only 18 days left to send me the information i required under the data protection act. The letter i got back said they still were not going to send me any info, included was a complants letter a leaflet (which i expected from them) and then in a nother letter delivered on the same day was my statment, printed off and not the best format to read, but now i have the info i can add it all up and send my next letter asking for my dinero back
ok need a little help please any one. I have worked out what Abbey owe me, it is a little over £2,500 which will be nice when i get it back. how ever i am a little confused as to what to do next, i think i have to send a letter asking for the full amount, without intreast, is that correct? then when i get a letter saying thanks but no thanks i send a lba. many thanks.
sent them a letter asking for me dosh back, it was sent 13th sept, i recived a letter back the other day saying thanks for complaining blar blar blar. so i guess tomorrow i will be able to send the lba. i think i need to read into what to do if it does go to court.mmmmm lets see
1 quick question, i have been away for a while but am ready to send my lba to Abbey. if i think i have worked out the intrest wrong what should i do, ask for the correct amount back before lba or send lba and just check every thing. The reason i ask is when i worked out my back charges i just added the intreast from the day it was taken, but didnt look to see if they charged me 30p or what ever in intreast.
