Lloys unplanned overdraft charges plus charges for being overdrawn
Over the weekend I got a letter from Lloyds bank, informing me that for two days I was £29 over my authorised overdraft.
In the letter they stated that I would be charged £30 per day I was overdrawn.
It also stated I has been provided with an unplanned overdraft which must be paid off, which will incur charges and if I dont pay it back before the next monthly period starts I would be charged even more.
The letter was dated the 23rd yet wasn't sent in enough time for me to get this sorted before the close of business on Saturday.
Having checked my account online this morning there is no unplanned overdraft shown on my account, and my balance is in credit and shows that i have paid back the £29.00 when I got paid on the 25th.
I am now to expect charges in Excess of £60 next month, plus I am very worried out this unplanned overdraft facility they provided, as I didn't physically pay it back and also if they charged me for being over my overdraft how can they also charge me for having an extra overdraft, surely I am being charged for the same £29.00 twice.
I am annoyed that in these two days they would have recouped the £29.00 twice over already in daily charges.

Hi and welcome to CAG. I'm not too clued up with Lloyds, but hopefully by bumping your thread up to the top of the list, someone who does have experience with Lloyds will jump in and advise you.

Re: Lloys unplanned overdraft charges plus charges for being overdrawn
Hi Natty.
You have paid back the 'unplanned overdraft' (code for nice little eaner) because your salary covered the shortfall, so the charges will only be repeated if there is a shortfall again next month.
You could start by going into your branch and discussing it with them. If you have a good track record, they might well refund the charges.
Take their letter and your statement with you. Dont talk to a clerk at the counter, ask to see a manager. It's worth a try and it will cost you nothing.
Whatever happens, start looking for an alternative bank account because, if it happens again, it could cost you dear.
Re: Lloys unplanned overdraft charges plus charges for being overdrawn
Hello,
I also received a letter yesterday (March 19th 2008), which was posted on March 12th 2008 to indicate that I was 3GBP overdrawn and that I had to pay a monthly fee of 15GBP and daily fee of 6 !
I called, and I learned this morning that my overdraft is now 70GBP, which means I have a daily fee of 15GBP to pay.
Here is the situation : I am not british, I do not leave in the UK any more (for 5 years), TSB account is my only account in the UK, I have no more revenues nor charges on this account, and I am overdrawn because I wanted to empty my account before they froze it (but I miscalculated exchange rate, and here I am overdrawn).
I repaid this morning the 70GBP that I consider to owe to TSB through internation transfer (it should arrive in a few days). Can anyone tell me if there is a risk that they could sue me and find me knowing I live abroad now ?
Please it is important, I owe 150GBP of daily fee, and it is still running...
