Some time ago I wanted to pay a bill by transferring money from my Co-Op bank credit card to another party. I had his bank details to put in but was unable to complete. I just could not do it.
It occured to me that rather than allowing others to take money from your account, by you giving them your sixteen digit number, they should give you their sort code and account number for you to pay them. As I tried to do. If this was the way payments were made where the payer was absent it would make it much easier to stop the fraudsters (Particularly if their bank was made reliable).
