Default Strange one involving central recoveries....

    Hello All!

This is a bit of a strange one...so please bear with me! lol

Basically my husband had car insuranceicon with the AA when it came to renewal the quote they gave us was a bit high so we shopped about and found cheaper elsewhere and so didn't renew but switched insurer's...no problem there.

Out of the blue in november last year (a month after switching) we recieved a Breakdownicon of the financial transactions on our acount with AA,the letter said it was requested by us...but we didn't! That was weird but ok since at the bottom of the statement it gave our present balance as £0.00 cr also all correct.

It gets stranger....!! this month we recieve a letter from Central Recoveries saying that basically they've been instructed to recover the unpaid amount of £70.86 on behalf of the AA.... and including the usual DCAicon threats...failure to respond within 7 days may adversely affect your credit rating etc..
We really can't figuer out what on earth they're going on about as we don't owe anything and AA had stated as much by sending us the statement....

Obivously I'll be sending out a letter to this dca with a copy of the statement that AA sent us,any ideas of how to word it or what to write? Haven't come across anything like this before....

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah that is a strange one.

Maybe you should SARicon The AA and write to the DCAicon and say that you dont owe them anything as you never renewed the car insuranceicon.

I am guessing that you put in writing to the AA that you no longer wanted car insurance with the AA. If so you can prove that you dont owe the money.

In your letter you can inform the DCA that you are contacting AA to find further information.

I note from various Insurance companies, that they include in the initial conditions, that your next years insurance will become 'automatic' unless you cancel, prior to the renewal date ???nasty way of doing business, but a lot are doing it.

I would not know as l dont have a car so would not no about car insuranceicon.

How would payments have been made?

If the money was taken out of your bank account then maybe checking that the money has not gone out as well would be a good idea as they would have had no entitlement to the money.

Have you tried to speak to AA. They may have made a mistake about this so you may owe nothing to the DCAicon.
