    Default Bailiff Agony

Ok here is the situation - I moved house approximately 18 months ago and stupidly never registered my car to my new address (which has now been done and ok'd with DVLA). Just before moving i received 2 parking tickets, one of which i paid and the other i totaly forgot about. I then moved house and the unpaid ticket never entered my head, untill last tuesday when i had a call from the owner of my last house saying a bailifficon was demanding over £500.00. HELP !!!!!

I explained what had happened and that i had no alternative but to pay the money there and then over the phone with a card. I was being paid the next day and told him i would make payment the next day by 3.00pm.

I panicked and was getting money together to pay the bailifficon and discovered i could sign a "out of time statuary declaration " which meant my case would be put on hold and reviewed by the local authority and a further decision made. This has put the bailiff on hold for the time being at least. He was not very amused at what i had done, but that is my legal right.

I have been totaly honest in my approach and it is my fault for not re registering my car but am still worried i am going to get the bailiffsicon knocking asking for even more money, can anyone offer any advice on what to do next ??

Get the declaration done straight away.

If you have a valid reason for not receiving the 'Notice to Owner' and Charge Certificate Documents (eg. moving house!) then the authorities have no option but to reset the pcnicon back to the original £30.

Don't worry about the bailiffsicon, if necessary pass them on a message from me, "push off!". (or words to that effect)

How can they prove that you did receive the original Charge Certificate Documents, even if you didn't move house as they don't send them recorded delivery, do they?

as someone else on here will say they dont need to prove delivery they just need to prove sending them and its assumed delivery 2 days later

I disagree with this in principle but it does seem thats the way its all geared up these days

Thank you for your comments. I am going to write an apologetic letter to the local authority offering payment for the original parking ticketicon as well as proof of different address. Im not sure what happens with the bailifficon fee as hedid make a trip to try and collect payment.
