    Default Mike's mum & PPI

    OK,here's the story on this one. In March 2006 my son bought a car through Approved Car Finance. He was advised to purchase PPIicon (although not advised that he could buy it cheaper elsewhere-well they wouldn't would they with an interesticon rate of 39.9% on both the loan and the one-off PPI premium ). Anyhoo, just a couple of months later, he realised his mistake-he couldn't make the repayments (having a mortgage to pay and his partner had lost her job) so he handed the car back. He now owes about £18000 on something he no longer has, a large amount (£7813.20) being PPI. I've only just been made aware of this and am firing a letter off tomorrow cancelling the PPI and also the GAP and Mechanical Breakdownicon Insurance (which they also advised he needed-did they see him coming or what!!). I'm hoping this is OK to do. Can anyone advise please?
