Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am in debt management with Payplan for £26000 credit card debts which I have been paying ok for about 9 months.
Three of the debts had been passed to moorcroft, Egg visa, egg mastercard and mint. Somehow Payplan and myself got confused and one of the Egg cards got missed off the plan and repayments. I contacted PP and they said they would sort it.
I heard nothing since then about 6 months ago until just before Xmas I got a letter from a local collection agency saying they had been passed the Egg debt by Egg, I checked my account and the card has not been added to my plan still.
My query is can Egg pass my debt to one agency then change their mind and then pass it to another? What is to stop both Moorcroft and the new agency chasing me for the debt?
Amex did this to me, using RMA then suddenly switching to AIC. I replied to AIC's initial letter telling them that as the matter was still, as far as I knew, already being dealt with by another DCA, unless and until Egg complied with their obligations under the OFT guidance I am unable to do anything. Nothing heard from any of them so far...
