Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have a 2 yo computer that is away for repair under a standard 3yr warranty.
The supplier of this computer has informed me that it could take upto 3 months to get replacement parts and has offered me the following.
A part exchange of the faulty computer for a new one, Ie they will give me upto £500 of a new computer that costs £1K (Which is what I paid 2 years ago for the faulty machine)
I can see it from their pont of view that my faulty computer has depriciated and it seams a fair offer as I get a new computer in a week etc, BUT I have paid for 1 year of warranty that I havent used. Though I can see the argument of its a Free 3 year warranty.
What should I do?
Try and negotiate a better deal?
Take the option of a new machine?
Be with out a computer for 3 months and ask for the warranty to be extended on that machine.
Complain about breach of contract as they can only supply 2out of the 3 years of warranty - but as it was Free it would realy be a gesture of good will.
