    Default Me vs Egg

Ok, am just about to start action against Eggicon.
My balance is currently £400 ish, I'm paying them £25 a week through a DCAicon (DLC). I've advised DLC to stop taking payment as I'm disputing this with Egg. I think they've probably taken about half the amount I owe in charges. My questions are...:

    1. What letter do I use to reclaim credit card charges? I can only find bank charges templates.

    2. I'd like to resolve the dispute and have my balance lowered before I continue to make payments. I accept that after this Egg may want the full amount, and I'm ready to pay that. How would I word this in my letter?

    Thanks in advance
    Mike

    1. You basically use the same letter but change it to reflect the fact that it is a credit card - eg dont refer to overdrafticon charges but do refer to late payment charges, etc. just read through and make sure it makes sense as a credit card letter. Do you know what the charges actually are? If not, send a letter quoting the Consumer Credit Act 1974 section 78(1) and ask for a statement of account, including all charges, payments, etc and asking for a copy of the executed agreement for the account and enclosing a postal order for £1. Remind them that they have 12 days in whcih to reply.

In fact I would do this anyway - its always a good idea to rattle their cage a bit

    2. I wouldn't bother including this at the moment - Eggicon are not likely to play ball anyway. Sending a CCA letter will make them think.
