Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Having received charges and sent request to Barclays (14 day request) they have replied with standard fobbing off letter mentioning the 'stay'.
I cannot ever take time off to go to court due to my work so is it a lost cause trying to send information regarding a complaint to the Ombudsman as they say they are not even looking at any more cases?
They are not looking at any new cases at the moment ........ however that could change in a couple of months keep an eye on the test case hopefullt things could change in the New Year
Any typos spelling mistakes are due to leprechauns in my keyboard they move the letters around sometimes (amended just for Bookie)
I offer help and advice in good faith, based on my knowledge and experience. I am NOT a legal or financial expert. There are many CAG members and site team who are better qualified. Thanks for the reply. Does the fact that they aren;t looking at any more cases mean ther's no way (other than court route) of 'logging' my 'complaint'? Just a bit concerned that my request will be wiped off as being 'new' once (if!) the test case ever resolves anything in favour of consumer.

I thought the fact they say they're not looking into it also means not to send anything to them.. will they still log my claim and does this actually mean anything legally for future?
You can still log your complaint with the fos - but the only way they will actually look at it now is if you are a "hardship" case.

ahh ok - thank you for that. Worth sending it to them then I guess... unless Barclays have a tendency to pay as soon as they get an online court order (mcol?)..... couldn;t cope with courts and am almost relieved I cannot get off work!
I wouldnt go the mcol route ....... If you are going the court route I would recommend your local court ........ But Barclays even when they were settling very seldom did this before a court date was iminant .... and if they did it was below the initial claim figure

Got charge details last week and sent off request for 100 pounds. Today got goodwill letter for almost 90 pounds. Almost regret setting up a direct debit 4 years ago with them!
Easy peasey Barclaycard unless it's because it was a small sum for them?
Well done on this. Did you you a site template letter to reclaim - they may have repaid cos you looked serious, it's only a small sum and they'd have to pay it back later anyway.
Did you claim in English or Welsh - whichever it was, it obviously works.
