Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I am getting going with the preliminary letter stage.
I am using the advanced excel spreadsheet to add up my charges and the interest that has resulted from them. When I list all the interest charges that have been made each month, and enter my interest free overdraft allowance (£1000), the "Interest of Penalties" column contains the same amounts as I have entered in the "Interest Charged" column. This implies that all the interest charged on my account is as a result of bank charges... however this is not the case. The charges do not at any point account for the total of my overdraft, even the amount over the interest free portion. Surely something's not right there.
Any help would be appreciated. Obviously it would be useful for you to see the spreadsheet but I don't want to post it up on here, maybe I can send a copy of the table?
Thanks Tilly, I'll post a message in the HSBC section.
I'm talking about overdraft interest from the charges, rather than the 8% interest. Should I leave that for now and just list the actual charges in my preliminary letter?
