I hope you can help but I feel that I'm probably screwed.

I bought a 2nd hand car for my wife about 6 weeks ago, she's a learner driver.

I took out a fully comprehensive policy, her as the main driver and me as the secondary.

Within two weeks she had an accident with a tree and we've been told that the car is now a write-off.

The insurance company have offered a fair price 1st time but have asked for all the documents.

The problem is that I forgot to send off the v5 document when I bought the car.

If I send them off now will it matter or is the claim invalidated?

Please help!!!

Thanks

Jon

I wouldn't think this would present a problem as the V5 just shows who the registered keeper is and doesn't necessarily correspond with who actually owns the vehicle. You could ring them to see if they will accept the V5 with the previous keeper details on, or if they would prefer you to send it in to get the details amended. However, the V5 should have been sent to DVLA by the person who sold you the car. It looks like the seller gave you the whole thing and was relying on you to send it in.
