I wanted to get my ceilings, which were artexed, plastered over and preceded to get quotes from building companies.

Eventually I got a quote of £881.81 from a company who said it would be better to plaster board over the existing ceiling, fill and paint it. This was an acceptable quote so I asked them to do the work.

The finished job was poor and not to the standard that was described or required, so I asked for it to be put right. The company have now been back 4 times to put it right, but still they have not put it right and the finished job is still poor.

Also the ceiling work has caused damage to all of the walls in such a way that they will need re-painting. I specifically asked before allowing the ceiling work to commence if the walls would be ok, and I was told yes.

After having the company come back 4 times and still not be able to put the ceiling right I decided enough was enough, and I certainly would not allow them to re-paint the walls, not that they would anyway.

The cheapest quote I have got for painting the walls is £998, so I have refused to pay the company who have done my ceiling work because of.
    • The quality of the ceiling work
    • The fact they have been back 4 times and still cannot put it right.
    • The damage caused to the walls meaning they will need re-painting.

I have written to the company who done the ceiling explaining this and that I have lost all faith in them. But they are now threatening to take me to county courticon for the money which is rather hypocritical really but also quite scary as never had that done to me in my life.

But want to stick to my principles as well.

The other points regarding the ceiling company are listed below.
    • The workmen opened private wardrobes, used my Hoover and broke it.
    • They used and broke over small items
    • I came home to find my front door open and a 16 year old apprentice left alone in my property.
    • 2 workmen who worked on my property were sackedicon leaving me to wonder what kinds of people were being allowed access to my property.

And the company will not admit any of all the things listed.

So can someone please give me some good advice on what to do and what my right are?

    Thank you

    Iceman

    hiya iceman.
this company of builders you used, were they members of an association ?
if so, have you approached the governing body regarding your concerns ?

Please note that although my advice is offered, you should consult your legal representative before taking ANY action.
