Thanks for your prompt replies- i will look at the credit reference agencies as i dont want to be financially connected to him but as far as i'm aware our finances were seperate when we were together.
After googling the number i think it is the Halifax and i know he had a credit card with them.

You moved and kept the landline, is he still at the old address? Either way, this slight adaption of the telephone harrassment letter should work. Re: Harassment by telephone
INCORRECT TELEPHONE NUMBER: XXXXXX
YOUR CLIENT: XXXXXXX
Dear Sirs
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company for XXXXX, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop as XXXXXX does not live at my address, but I am still receiving calls. Furthermore, you can see this for yourselves if you actually check records properly.
I demand that all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only to your cleint.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards, The Office of Fair Trading and the Finance Services Ombudsman, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
i had a similar thing with HBOS (halifax) same number as u listed, upto 18 calls a day. often no one there if answered, it was on auto-dial. the police were great, so were BT, who intercepted calls, and gave me a new number in the end. police were able to stop it but the new number came 1st.
Thanks for all your replies - very helpful indeed.
I think i will try BT and get the number barred if a i can - if not i will send one the letters suggested.
Thanks again for all your help its much appreciated.
