Make sure you have your parachute accounticon ready - you probably know they will close your account. For that sort of money it's worth it though so good luck.

According to the Royal Mail Track & Trace the letter has been delivered. I await their initial refusal.

Yesterday I received the standard letter from the Alliance & Leicester saying they were 'very sorry to learn of your disappointment', and include their unhelpful leaflet about how they handle complaints.

I guess they'll be getting a letter before actionicon next week then.

Does anyone know if I were to transfer my account to another bank now would it affect my claim and possible court action in any way?

It would make no difference whatsoever.

If you would have trouble opening a 'regular' current account then see this thread for details of 'basic' accounts you may wish to consider opening.

Thanks for your quick reply. I assumed as much, but I just wanted to make sure. I'll see about a new account after the weekend.

Hope you're not gonna hang about too long on this dude - don't want to panic you but I've just read "Lady Penelope's" thread and they appear to have closed her account after her prelim approaches [unless it was over something unrelated to her claim, but it seems too much of a coincidence to me].

Is it worth the risk, just for the sake of being slow to act?

If you've already taken action, forgive my intrusion! Just lookin out for a fellow victim.

I received my second letter today from the A&L today. It was a standard letter explaining how their charges are clearly shown, etc. I assume this is the response most people get after their first letter?

I am currently preparing my letter before actionicon, which will be sent before the end of the week.

I have also applyed for a new bank account with another bank.

Second letter sent today (12/07/06). I hope to have a new bank account opened in another bank any day now.

If anyone here lives in Northern Ireland and has taken the A&L to court, then any additional advice would be most helpful.

The Consumer Council for Northern Ireland have produced this guide - http://www.gccni.org.uk/online_docum...k_01.06.06.pdf - Hopefully the information contained in this guide may be of use to someone here.

I received a second refusal from the A&L the other day well within the 14 days. I will now wait to the 14 days is up before lodging my claim.

I finally got round to lodging my claim on Saturday past (02/09/06). I live in Northern Ireland so I decided to use their new Small Claims Online service - http://www.courtsni.gov.uk/en-GB/Ser...line_Services/.

I had no problems until today. The status of my case went from ‘Awaiting Verification’ to ‘Queried’. I have two options on their system now ‘On-Line Response To Query’ (a blank form) and ‘Covering Letter’ (a blank letter template).

I am unsure what to do next. I intend phoning the Belfast office in a few days if I haven’t received any documentation in the post.

Has anyone here had any experience of this? Or am I missing something simple? Any advice would be most helpful.

    John.

Phoned the court today. They have to send me a form to fill in because my claim is outside of Northern Ireland. At least there's no problem.
