Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Sent off letter 1 today, asking for the statements, including trhe £10 postal order. Egg are impossible to get hold of, due to being an internet bank. I managed to dig deep and find a London address for them, so am sending it all there.
Derby address better.
To save yourself time, best to include a photocopy of passport or drivers licence, 2 uility bill originals (returned). £10 full info request will return a one-inch-thick pile of papers taking up to 6 weeks. A £5 request for a list of penalty charges could bring response within days.
With the OFT test case hearing due on 14th January, the sooner refunded the better.
We don't know, but I believe Egg's list will be extracted from computer datastores by automated IT utilities, and it is doubtful if Eggployees will slip in and manually remove a few entries to save Egg money, not their own. Such alleged tricks might of course be exposed by any customers who happen to have SOME old statements but not all.
I've received my Egg statements now. I only sent a fiver, and they still sent me all the statements, which is handy lol. Just need to go through them all now. This won't take long i'm sure!
Not good news. After sending off the letter with the print out of fees I want reinbursing, they've sent me a letter in return telling me they hold to their T&C and they won't be repaying me ANY fees back.
Advice please?
Is there any point in me taking them to court over £92?
That was a standard Egg template letter which they have started sending out over the last few months. It is like haggling in the kasbah, they beat you down offering you zero, hoping the faint-hearted will walk away. If you click open recent win threads in the V-E Day index you will find many stories similar to your own - "no, maybe, yes, here's your money".
To encourage Egg onto the path of virtue you could
(A) Send the moc1984 letter in V-E Day thread, from back in May I think.
(B) Advise Egg that you also intend to send your claim to the fos, who will charge Egg an additional £360 handling fee, win lose or draw. In your case it will be a win, but inflating Egg costs from £92 to £452.
But do it promptly, the long shadow of the OFT 14th January High Court hearing is almost upon us, bringing in its train God knows what side-effects.
