Default lloyds refuse to repay ppi

    what can i do?
i took out a loan with Lloydsicon in nov 2003 for 15000k and altogether with PPIicon the figure came to 23500..monthly x 60 was 391.67.
i didnt need the insurance as i was 64 and retired (i was a nurse)but i thought that to get the loan easily then i had to take it..i was/am living abroad and the bank knew that..but they wangled it so that i could get the loan...i gave them my daughters address (i have been with the same bank/branch for 40 years.)
Recently i have asked them to refund my bank charges..i went overdrawn for the first time in 2004 and they started taking 60 pounds a month off me...so im already trying to get that back..my claim is now with the Ombudsmanicon.(1500 in charges)
Since hearing about mis sold insurance i decided to confront them with mine..as i realize i have never been covered for anything.
today i had a letter from them saying they sympathize etc..but they are unable to refund the money as it was optional and i signed for it...actually the forms were filled in over the phone and then posted to me here ..abroad..for me to sign and return with the boxes ready ticked...nothing was ever explained to me...it was my feeling that to get the loan i had to take the ppi.(the sales person would obviously get commission)
and why would i take out insurance to cover the payments when my monthly pension was guaranteed.
now i am wondering how to proceed with this..also at the same time i complained that they had mis sold me insurance on my credit card and i wanted it stopped..they still havent done so and i want to reclaim that back also..and they are refusing.
as i live abroad going to the small claims court is not possible??
and also i have been told that with a loan taken before 2005 you can't go to the ombudsman..is this right?
i will be very grateful for any info and help as to what is anything i can do next.
    thanks xx

    Hello,

You must still pursue them with this. I don't matter where you are living in the North Pole you are still British and can use the legal system.

Have you send them the full SARicon to get the information that you need.

As regard the cancelling of the cc, they must cancel it if you have requested it.

Just keep at them, they will deny everything and put the blame on you for signing the ??????optional insurance. This is there normal scapegoat, but as a financial institute they have the legal duty to ensure the product they sold you was suitable to you and not just a very profitable [problem] for them.

    Hello Almikenina,

Oh where you surfing from, is the sun shinning, it raining here and blowing a gale. bet you jealous aren't you

    Here is the full SARicon

Full S.A.R - (Subject access request) for ppi

I would ring them, but back it up with a letter, to get a written response from them so you have written evidence of what they state you are covered for.
