Hi Guys
i have just joined this site, and think its an amazing resource, hoping someone can offer us some advice:
My wife (newly married 3 weeks ago) just went to pick up her wedding dress from sainsburys in house dry cleaners..Without going into too much detail, it has been totally ruined, the colour has been changed from cream to grey, and it it covered in mysterious stains..The Lady at the service desk was visibly shocked when she showed it to us (she also took the dress in, and saw it before it was ruined)..
My wife is heavily pregnant at 8 months and is incredibly distressed at this situation
Could anyone give us some ideas as to what our rights are, and what we can expect sainsburys to do to compensate this loss?
Many thanks in advance!!
Re: Wedding Dress Ruined By Dry Cleaner>>pls help!
Sorry to hear about your cleaning disaster.
I would advise you to write a very strong letter of complaint to the manager of the store, (keeping a copy, yourself). That way you have registered a complaint and has to be the first step.
Ask the manager what he proposes to do about it. That puts the ball very firmly in their court.
I don't pretend to know the answer to your problem, but I will try and find someone who can advise you further.
I will move this thread into the General Consumer Issues forum, where you should get more help.
Regards, Rooster.

Can you scan a copy of the T&Cs for the dry cleaning service and post here please?

Re: Wedding Dress Ruined By Dry Cleaner>>pls help!
I am a new member of this site with the same problem as Wherryfam had back in october of last year. I have to say that I am surprised that there are not more complaints regarding dry cleaning of wedding dresses as most people seem to have some sort of problem.
Unfortunately my dry cleaners are not johnsons but a firm in Lincolnshire recommended by the shop I purchased my dress from. My dress was purchased for £1400, worn for a maximum of 6 hours, sent back to the bridal shop for replacment of crystals which had fallen off during the wedding day itself and then sent to the dry cleaners in perfect condition with the areas most affected clearly marked. My dress was returned 3 months later with beads and crystals missing, a small tear in the silk fabric and significantly faded, at a cost of over £110.
I sent the dress back, emails have been exchanged, they will not accept responsibility, I am left in a rather desperate position and frankly tired of fighting. I wondered if anyone had any ideas about who to speak to with regards to any sort of action I can take.
