Hi there
On 24/9/07 I booked a weekend break to Barcelona to depart 20/10/07 through Book flights, hotels, city breaks, car hire, holidays and more with Travelocity.co.uk (part of lastminute.com). However, I now need to cancel and so I called travelocity. I was told that I could cancel the hotel with a full refund, but I could not get any refund for the flights (with Monarch airlines) as they are non-refundable.
However, I've just done a dummy booking on the travelcity website and cannot see any mention of non-refundable flights. The terms and conditionssimply say that I should check the 'flight rules' section, which I cannot find anywhere!
I also spoke to Monarch today, who told me they wouldn't refund me on this type of flight.
Even more annoyingly, should I decide not to cancel and just choose another date and 2nd passenger, Monarch will charge me £20 EACH WAY to alter a ticket, plus the difference in fares if there is one - therefore to change a name on 1 ticket and the dates on both will cost £120.00! On top of that, Travelocity want to charge £45 per amendment, per ticket!!!! All this for a few clicks of a mouse! When I asked Travelocity to justify their fee, the call centre (non UK based) would only say "It's company policy." They have however, agreed to waive 1 x £45 fee after I made a fuss.
My question is, do I have fair grounds to claim a full refund for my airfare?
It seems wrong that the airline will simply sell my seats on again, making double profit!
If someone could check the travelocity website I'd be grateful.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
