Removal of arrears from credit record - attempt #1
Hi,
Feel bad asking for advice on my first post but I've read and learnt a lot here today and was hoping someone could look over this letter before I post it to B'Card. The letter is self-explanatory and its a version of the S.A.R - (Subject access request) Wizard generated letter.
I have an otherwise spotless credit record apart from this Bcard history, lot's of arrears over 3 years ranging from 1's to 5's. My objective is to make myself such a pain in the a$$ that they decide to remove it completely. Not sure if it will work but as the account was settled in 03 I imagine the statements are now on microfiche which should add to the fun. Anyway comments and advice welcomed:

Data Protection Act 1998 – Credit Report Query
Dear Sirs,
After recently obtaining my credit reports from Equifax, Experian and Call Credit I noticed that there is a Barclaycard Credit Agreement showing arrears for an account that was closed on 13/01/2003.
I have no recollection of this account or the arrears referred to by Barclaycard on my credit records.
Here is the data I have retrieved from my credit record(s).
Name: <removed>
Company Name: Barclaycard Centre
Account Type: Credit Card
Account Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX7000
Address: <removed>
Start Date: 02/03/1999
Date Satisfied: 13/02/2003
Date Updated: 19/10/2003
Balance: £0
Status: Settled
Credit Limit: £4000
Please could you investigate whether or not the information you have placed on my credit records at Equifax, Experian and Call Credit is accurate.
If you believe the data to be correct please supply me with all of the personal data that you hold to which I am entitled under the Data Protection Act 1998. In particular, I require a complete list of transactions and charges relating to my history with your organisation. Alternatively, a complete set of statements will be acceptable.
Additionally, where there has been any event in my account history over this period which has required manual intervention by any member of your staff, or any other person, I require disclosure of any indication or manual notes which have either caused or resulted in that manual intervention, or other evidence of that manual intervention in relation to my banking business with you.
I enclose the statutory maximum fee of 10 pounds. You have 40 days in which to comply.
Alternatively please remove the Barclaycard entries from my Equifax, Experian and Call Credit records and confirm in writing that this has taken place.
Hi Thanks for that. I'm not sure S10 is the way to go for this as there are no defaults on the account just a lot of arrears ranging from 1-5. Also I have no idea if they where caused by amy penalty charges.
I guess I'm just hoping that they either won't be able to produce the statements or will see it as too much trouble and just remove the record entirely. I'm not going after any charges to be refunded.
