Default Finding an old barclays account

i had a premier account with Barclaysicon up till about 2000, it partly thier fault i got into such a mess, my personal banker kept increasing my overdrafticon (was £5000 at one stage) the gave me a loan of 10k to pay off the OD!
I realise i was stupid as well for agreeing to all this but i did incure a lot of charges etc before i finally had to close the account and go on a dmpicon

The acount has been closed since 2000, is there a way i can get them to tell me the account number, so i can request a DPA for charges etc?

or would i be wasting my time as its over 6 yearsicon now since i had the account?

I *think* the DPA letter would be how you found out these details. You are asking them to disclose all information they hold about you - as long as you provide proof of ID (copy passport, utility bill to confirm address etc), I don't think you'd have a problem - it would be their job to find the account number(s). It might be easier to go into a local branch and get them to verify the documents (and hand-delivered DPA letter).

Is it too late? Well.... there's plenty of threads on here about whether the 6-year rule counts from when the "offence" occurred or from when you "discovered" it was an offence - personally, I think the latter.
