Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I'm in the middle of a dispute with another bank regarding a loan. I've with-held payments and am in the middle of taking them to court. THe bank have simply been updating my credit file saying I'm in arrears.
I got a credit card and new current account with a+l about 3months ago.
They've now called me up and said "Following a review of your credit score, we've suspended your credit card". They refused to budge even after I explained the story in full.
I know they're safeguarding their own ends but can they do this?
Have the other bank just put markers on your credit file of actual defaults?
I dont think there is much you can do about the A&L although it does seem irresponsible not to check your credit file before they opened the account.
The only hope is really to get the credit file put right by trying to sort the dispute out. Are you worried about finding another bank to open an account?
