Default Alliance & leicester ppi Supported by FOS

Would just like to tell people that i have now recieved a reply from the Financial ombudsman service regarding my return of PPIicon on the grounds of mis selling.
They have informed me that on this occasion ppi was mis sold due to the lack of information that was supplied when the loan was taken out over the phone (recordings were supplied by A&L ).
They have now written to A&L to advise of the decision and advise for them to pay up i guess??
Not sure what will happen now but it almost seems that although the fosicon have made this decision it might not carry much weight?
Any thoughts on this much appreciated.

    Hello Cougar,

I do believe you should be jumping up and down with joy. The FOS will have some clout with this Company. and if they still play hardball I think a Judge would look very dimley at the Companies decision not to give it back.

    Well done

    Hi cougar25,

Your above thread is very interesting to me. We have just settled a loan we had with A & L and I have been appauled at the amount of PPIicon we have had to pay on it. I believed from the start that we did not need it, our loan was for £20k and we were told over the phone that probably without the PPI cover our loan would be refused. At the time, as most people are when having to take out such a large loan, we we're desperate to just get the money and so agreed to have the loan drawn up including the PPI. £80 a month on top of the monthly loan repayment, we really where done over. I've already processed and been successful in claiming account charges from Lloydsicon Tsb so I have a understanding of how claims work but I'll be honest I have no clue how to go about claiming back PPI. You seem to have a good idea how it works can you tell me how to start, do you have a thread I can read or point me in the right direction of any template letters?. Getting the fosicon involved seems to be the best way and if there already dealing with your claim, mine will come as no great suprise to them - who knows we may start a revolution against A & L! Hope you can help and good luck on your claim.

hi hope i can be of some help here but i might add that im feeling the way a bit here too.
I have a thread running at the moment on lloydstsbicon ppi, which is not yet settled or at the lbaicon stage.
    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...-card-ppi.html

Im working on the principal that ppi is similar to claiming back bank charges in so much as the process of asking for the money back. The hard part is making a case for your arguement, i.e I request my money back on the grounds of mis-selling because,....
There are numerous ways in which ppi can be mis sold and there are many good posts on this site explaining just that.
    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...claimants.html
Also you will find some templates and much more information in the above post that will help you to decide if you have a valid claim.

    Best of luck
    paul
