sorry that not very helpful - most are taking the max 40 days IF they comply with your DPA request - not sure about Cahoot in particular tho. You might need to send them a reminder when you have a week or so left to go.
Sent my DPA to Cahoot on 7th June by Royal Mail 1st Class and received a letter yesterday with 30 pages of statements. They returned my cheque as well.
Just finalising my preliminary letter requesting refund of charges.
I'm sure you'll get your info. soon.
Best of luck, Thoma
p.s. today they have increased my flexible loan interest rate to 13.9% though, I've a feeling this is retaliatory tactics. Has anyone else found the same thing ??
Hi Thoma,
they have today increased mine and my husbands flexible loan interest rate aswell. And i have not sent my prelim letter yet,and my husband hasn't even asked for anything yet.So i don't think it's connected with your claim, although i can't help thinking................. ..have they increased the rates to recover all the moneys they are losing with all those claims??:o
jellybabe
I decided to e-mail them and actually got an answer back straight away. They said that my DPA information was sent on the 15 July, so it should be in the post tomorrow. Yippee
Just read your thread regarding Cahoot increasing your flexible loan interest rate, they have just reduced my rate to 11.9%, however I am in the process of writing my DPA request, so I'll see if they increase my rate after that. The best option may be to transfer your flexible loan to a fixed rate one, much lower interest rates, which they can't change.
Thanks thats good advice, just in the process of selling my flat so will be paying the loan of pretty soon.
I'll be closing my cahoot account as well as soon as they pay up, switching to First Direct but gonna be a bit more careful !!
Cheers,
Thoma
Who would you rather not be in cahoots with !
Thanks for jumping in on my thread. Got my statements back from Cahoot and about to send them the letter asking for my charges back. £1285 plus £273.37 interest. Do I add the interest in the letter or do I just ask for the £1285 back. Any advice would be welcome. I am only asking because when I did the spreadsheet it did say that the banks would know that you did not know what your doing if you added on the 8%
A & L Moneyclaim filed 30 June 2006.
Prlim e-mailed to Cahoot sent 1 July 20006
As far as i learned from reading other threads, you don't add the 8% until you fille your claim.
good luck with it,i'm going after cahoot aswell.
Did send my prelim letter on the 23rd June, but so far i only received the standard reply acknowledging my letter:
I am sorry that you felt you had to contact us concerning the level of service that you have received from cahoot.BLAH BLAH BLAH
Ok so I have justed finishing my letter to Cahoot will get that in the post tomorrow.
A&L - moneyclaim £238 + £30 charges
Cahoot - LPA letter - 3 July Egg - DPA letter 6 June, stalling wanted ID sent 23 June
First Direct DPA letter - 3 July Nationwide - DPA sent 7 June
Received this today, day after 14 day deadline, would love to write something realy snotty back to them. Any one!!!!
I refer to your letter dated 2nd July 2006 regarding your cahoot Credit Card account. I've taken ownership of your particular case in order to provide a response to the issues you've raised.
We don't accept that cahoot's charges are unfair under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. The object of these Regulations was not price control nor were they intended to interfere with people's freedom to agree the terms of their contracts.
It's well known that banks make charges and cahoot's charges are in line with those of other banks. The terms and conditions of the account and the charges that apply are clear and fair and were provided to you at the time you opened it. You freely agreed to the terms and conditions and the charges when you opened the account. You weren't under any obligation to do so and could have gone to another bank if you didn't agree to the charges. Equally, you're free to move your account to another bank at any time if you don't agree with the charges.
In any event, we don't agree that the charges are disproportionate. The charges are reasonable and proportionate to the administrative costs incurred by cahoot.
In light of the above, I'm unable to refund the charges you've incurred fully appreciating the disappointment this may cause.
If you need anything further please don't hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
Lee Loftus

hi,
had the same reply not long ago.I think if your time frame run out (14 days),then it is time for you to send your letter before action.
I tried a different approach, sent them a reply asking to reconsider, blah blah blah. But haven't heard nothing yet. They got 2 more days and then i will send my lba off.
I emailed Cahoot yesterday for copy statements & had an email at 16.15 yesterday saying 'I have sent you a letter which includes all the charges applied to your 3 accounts over the last 6 years'. So fingers crossed they have actually done that & I should have an idea if they owe me anything by the end of the week
sorry to keep jumping in on your thread.Just had the answer to my question and didn't know if you found out what the membership fee was.
Answer from cahoot today:
Dear Mrs jellybabe,
Thank you for contacting cahoot in Coventry.
I can confirm that the entry on your statement that you mention in your email refers to a monthly fee that used to be payable on the credit card account instead of interest payments calculated on your balance.
This was replaced by interest rates calculated daily on the balance of your account and the monthly fee is no longer payable.
i think it was something
to do with PPI insurance. not totally sure so i am sorry can not answer your question. I have left it out as i could not get an answer from anyone about it. They put enough charges on anyway. Check when they say they have reimbursed charges though, they still added those onto my account instead of taking them off
