Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Received my print out after DPA (and reminding them that the deadline was approaching and explaining I WILL be itaking Court action if info is not provided! ) INformation received on Monday (the day After the deadline, cheque was cashed about three days after receipt!)
Have looked through the information and there is a charge of £10.00 each time I appear to have a "penalty" -
Is this a "Penalty" in disguise or a charge (for whcih I cant claim for)!
At the first glance the claim will be in the region of about £3000 - Looks like A & L will be paying for my university fees next year (and a holiday!)
Hi, Not sure on this - what does the text next to the £10 say ?
Are you getting a charge of £30 odd and then the £10 charge ? if so it could be for being in unauthorised overdraft....
I'm expect theres some folk in A&L who've seen the same on their statements...
Thank you for the above comments - the details after the charges are not clear, the statements say "Date, Montly OD Charge (Date) 10.00
then a "unauthorised montly OD Charge of £52.20)
Are they connected, and most importantly - Can I claim them back?
A&L wrote to me this morning closing my account down with a "formal demand for payment" fortunately I have savings which have shored it up and closed the account down the amount outstanding is exclusively from "Fees" . (Votive) for those who do not have access for funds.
Got a bro meself - fought like cat 'n dog growin' up (still can on occasion, won't forget he's older 'n me, an' tries it on sometimes - a quick slap soon sorts it!), but I'd go to hell 'n back to help him if he needed it! 8)
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

Received another "unsigned" letter today saying "our charges are fair and in line with everyone else" Therefore we are unable to refund your charges.
Now I have had the letter within the 14 days, is there any reason why I shouldnt put the moneyclaim form in this weekend, as I have had their response, whcih is "B****er off" and dont darken our doors again.?
Nearly there now - £2600 on its way - If they had paid out the money when I asked for it they would have saved themselves nearly £500.
Some people wait as there is a remote possibility they could change their policy and you have technically given them 14 days. Others just go to MCOL as they have an answer. The choice is yours.

Sorry I can't do a link thing [I'm computer illiterate], but I suggest you check out MemmaJ's thread "My A&L update (and advice needed)", as she is in a similar position.
Tinkerbelle gave her some advice on how to proceed, which may also help you.
