Hello all
have sent of my DPA today for two Barclays account, hoping to get a fair amount back.
Have been reading the threads for 3 nights now and I came across a link to a website where you can check if there have been any defaults made against you, but I can't find it now!!
I know it began with e, but I didn't read it properly and the only one I can think of is Expedia, but thats for holidays!!
I am pretty sure that you can see them on there, if there are any although I have never looked myself...too scared to check my credit record
Please note that I am not a legal expert and all advice given is without prejudice and is purely my opinion only.
** Nationwide - £1821.15-PAID IN FULL - Aug 06 ** ** Halifax Mortgage -£390 - PAID IN FULL - Nov 06 ** Lloyds TSB - MCOL issued 09/03/07 - £2953 + costs - ON HOLD....
You can get your statutory report from each of them for £2 each - no need to pay for their fancy all-singing, all-dancing reports which cost about £12 each.
Hi all, just a little up date, received the standard reply to DPA request including return of my cheque today. Statements should be on their way soon.
Also, sent off the DPA request for my husbands account yesterday, so should hear from that soon.
I have another question, slightly different. I have an Egg loan that I'm paying a large amount of interest on and I have a credit card with 0% until December, I would like to transfer the loan to my credit card, which I'm fine doing, but my husband wants to see if I can get egg to reduce the settlement figure, anyone know if this is possible and how I would go about doing it?
Remind them that the 40 days still applies despite them sending your cheque back and that if they refuse to comply, you'll sue them under the Data Protection Act.
I'm a bit confused about the interest we can claim. I understand that there is the 8% which can be worked out using the spread sheet and this should only be claimed for if you use MCOL. I have also read comments about overdraft interest, is that your standard overdraft interest? If not what is it and how do you find it/ work it out?
Cheers
Hek
1.When you go overdrawn the bank will charge you interest, perfectly lawfully.
However if part of your overdraft is made up of penalty fees, they are also charging you interest on these too and it is this interest which you are entitled to claim back, but it's tricky to separate out from the total interest figure.
Vampiress has a spreadsheet, (the 2nd one), in the bank templates library, which attempts to calculate this
It's quite complex and unless your claim is large often doesn't amount to that much, so for simplicity's sake, some people don't bother
2. 8% interest on your claim, but only when you submit a claim at court. Don't add this interest before.
Thank you Michael Brown, I will wait until I have my statements and If I am claiming a large amount I will use the spreadsheet and atempt to work out the interest
grrrrr. I phoned Barclays re statements today, they said fine, will order them and they'll be with me in 6 days, great I thought. I asked if they could order them for my husbands account aswell but they said he had to call.
So, this eveing, he phoned, got sent round the houses and they finally said it would be another 3 weeks!! I told him that would run past the 40 limit so he phoned back and after a long wrangle finally got them ordered to come sooner.
I was cheking my account later on and realised I had been charged £5 for my statements!! The cheek! They didn't say they would be charging me and the letter I received in reply to my DPA letter stated that I would receive them for free, I phoned them again and they are now refunding the £5.
Received statements for my account today, have now completed spreadsheet, £2005 without interest, £2420 with!! Bring it on!! Got joint account and hubbies to look at next!!

I got hubbies statements today, the total was £1915 (£2400 with interest).
Still waiting for statements from joint account, have phoned again, they should be here early next week!
I have a question - Once I have totalled charges on joint account, can I send one preliminary letter for all three accounts or do I have to send one each account?:?
Also, at money claim time - can hubby and I claim jointly for our own personal accounts in one claim and for the joint account in a separate claim? :?

If all 3 a/c add up to less than £5000, then you could jointly make 1 claim. Both of you sign the letters. If not split as joint + wife a/c, and husband a/c
Hello all,
a little update, finally got statements for third account and have now added up all the charges. We will be claiming just over £6000 (inc 8% interest) from 3 accounts.
I have typed the prelim letters - one for mine and joint and one for hubby, I'll send them registered post tomorrow.
We will be claiming just over £6000 (inc 8% interest) from 3 accounts.
Is this overdraft interest on your charges? If not, you cannot claim s69 8% interest until you file at moneyclaim, so do not include this in your claim yet.
