I have been a customer wit a&l for about a year now in the first few months of opening the account due to bank change over and monies being put into my account i suffered some charges i let them get away with it out of fairness. anyway last month i wrote a cheque to someone but i had to cancel the cheque due tothe goods being faulty about a week later i oticed that the cheque had been deposited for payment i phoned a&l they lady on the phone was quite understanding and explained that i had written the cheque for £99 instead of £100 that i had stated when i cancelled the cheque thats why it was presented she assured me however that on this occasion i would not incur any cost a few days later the fee i was charged was refunded but on my next statement theres a charge for being overdrawn plus another charge for being overdrawn after 4 days plus interesticon totalling £50.98p i phoned the bank regarding this and they have told me that the harges will stand because i went overdrawn i explained to them the conversation i had with thier representaive to no avail my main question really is do i have to pay the charges before i can make a claim has due to thier unfirness in his situation im going to seek to get the previous charges back also

Sadly for you and me, A&L are the worst bank on the planet. I wrote a cheque that placed my account over my O/D limit by 50 pence, they bounced the cheque and charged me £34 THEN and additional £25 for exceeding my overdrafticon limit. Not sure what the APR is for this but it has lots of zeros.

They are the scum of the earth and the rest do not appear to be much different..............

I agree - been with them since 1992 and they just treated me like a idiot this year - so decided to retaliate. Even if cases are stayed if you start action now you will be at the top of the pile after the test case - or write to fosicon and then you will be on their waiting list .
