Exclamation Hek v Monument - need reassurance

    Can someone advise me pleaase.

I started my claim against monument jan/feb time. They went past the 40 days sending statements, then when I phoned them they said they hadn't had my letter but they would send them out and if my £10 cheque had been cashed to call and it would be refunded.

Statements arrived a few days later, so I added up charges and sent prelim letter. The then sent me a statement (for the account which I closed years ago!) charging me £250 for statements!! I phoned and complained and after various letters and phonecalls I was told it would be refunded. I then waited for confirmation statement of refund - this never arrived. At some point I also received a final offer letter for 50% of charges, which is everything over the £12 limit set by OFT. I didn't respond for a while as I was waiting for confirmation on the other refund before I continued with claim.

Anyway, sent lbaicon a few weeks ago and heard nothing, so I phoned to ask if they wanted to settle before I filed court claim, they said no as they had refunded anything in excess of what OFT said is reasonable.

I now need to know if I should file on MCOL, they are a shabby outfit and I am nervous of ending up in court. Should I push for all charges or accept their offer?

Thumbs up Re: Hek v Monument - need reassurance

    Hi hek

have a read through this http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...-monument.html

Why would you want to accept 50% of your claim? Personally I would go for it and file for court and get all your money back.

Are doing MCOL or N1 have you decided yet?

What a shabby outfit indeed!! They are not fit to act as your fiduciary and you should report them as such to the FSA. Request ALL you money back with interesticon and the £250 they have taken knowing full well that £10.00 is the maximum amount they should charge for providing statments.

    Shameful, disgraceful behaviour.

Hi Hek, Just seen your post. That really is unbelieveable about the charge for statements. Follow Moneyhelp & Paintball's advice. Go for it all. This lot are, on personal experience, the most devious of the lot. They deserve every customer screwing them for every penny back.

Nice to see my thread getting some noteriety .
