Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Is it legal for a creditor to pass your telephone number onto a DCA? Is'nt is breaking some privacy law. I am ex directory and registered with the TPS and I am not happy that a DCA has been given my phone number.
It really depends on the t&c's of the account. What you can do is insist that the DCA does not phone you and all communication is in writing (template here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...se-letter.html ). If they don't comply you can report them for harassment.
Meanwhile.... keep a time/date of all calls received, whether answered by you or not.... and DON'T get into any type of conversation with anyone ! They will use this as an opportunity to bully and intimidate you with all kinds of bowlarks to get you to pay....
Just hang up immediately.... or insist that they put everything in writing and then hang up.
