Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Despite their failing to comply fully with DPA SAR - sent statements from May 2001, yet account was opened in Nov 1995 - have sent prelim letter to BC requesting repayment of charges. Charges in period that they provided statements for totalled £1198, so I suggested in prelim letter that until they were able to fully comply with SAR and prove otherwise that it seemed reasonable to assume charges were applied at a similar level between 1995 and 2001, making a total of £2000.
Received letter back today offering £422 - the difference between the (known) charges and the current £12 fee. No mention of the charges prior to May 2001 though, which even if I settled for the 'difference' would make it far more than the £422 they are offering.
