Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
OK, this really is an impossible question, as everyone's answer will be different, but here goes.
I have just successfully got my charges back from the Halifax, but I've decided I'd like to open an account somewhere else, for 2 reasons; 1) I don't like the Halifax anymore and 2) I want a 'fall back' account in case the Halifax retaliate against me by closing my account first! Question is, which bank should I move to?
I've got my business account with HSBC, and that would be my first choice, however from a customer relations/ethical standpoint, I'm sure they're probably just as bad as the Halifax.
Is there any one bank that's better than the rest?

Take ten people, ask them who their recommended bank is, stand back, and watch the sparks fly as no one will agree
All as bad as each other.. although saying that I always found Smile were good til they really ****ed me off one day and threatened to have me arrested at a Co-Op branch for turning up 5 minutes before closing to pay in some cash to put me back within my OD limit

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
Should you be offered help that requires payment please report it to site team.

I moved to smile from Barclays, mainly because of the ethical stance they take.
They even responded to my DPA request with a recycled envelope and a normal stamp too. Had a business account with Co-Op themselves for a while too, it's amazing the questions they ask - like does your business generate nuclear power, or build weapons of mass destruction? Or by chance are you involved in deforestation in South America? All good though..

I like Smile from an ethical point of view, and so far from a customer service point of view. I like first direct A LOT (I was with them for 15 years) from a customer service point of view.
Barclays. They let me pay in money on SAME day to get back under limit and not charge me. And if I pay in a cheque, the money is immediately avaialble to me. Ok, they might charge me more interest for that, but I accept that as a legitimate charge. And the paying in same day has definitely saved my **** a few times.
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
Oh, I'm not saying their customer service is good, dear lord, no!!!!
I'm saying they're the only ones I know who do not insist on clear funds to be in the day before or they'll bounce everything in sight like a demented tennis ball machine. Which, coupled with online banking, is the uppermost reason for my finances finally slowly getting back on track.
I am not, ever, categorically, not endorsing any bank!!!!
