    Default halifax statement charges

we wrote to Halifaxicon requesting the dpa information (no tenner included) to which they returned a monthly charges summary, on 1 sheet (with no specific information about what these charges were for.
On the second letter I pointed out that we had asked for "a complete and exhaustive list of all charges ...(including the date of the'offence' the exact wording used and the amount charged)." We used the information to collate the amount owed any way + interesticon (£2,800+)
I have now received a letter telling me that I have to use my statements to collate the information and they can supply copy statements for a very reasonable £5 each (ie £300 for six years).
Am I correct in thinking that they will also supply the same information for an even more reasonabl £10 ? and are they acting within the spirit of their own conduct rules by being"ecenomical with the acualete" and not informing me of the cheaper option? .

If you made a DPA request..they must disclose all the information you asked for....

Dpa requests cost £10...They should include what the charges were for if that is what you asked for...

Did you state at the top of the letter:

'Data Protection Act Disclosure Letter'? if you did not, they will try and make you pay for the charges as they know what you're doing. Stall tactic.

If you did put that at the top of the letter or within the letter then if you feel that they did not disclose all the information that you requested let them know and if they don't comply report them to

I cribbed the paragraph from the library which starts:
"Further to this if you decide Not to accept our offer of settlement of this issue, we would like to make a formal request under the Data Protection Act(1998) for a complete................. ..etc"

So the Data Protection Act was mentioned, although not as a heading.

    That will do.

Send them a short and sweet note reminding them that the clock is ticking on your DPA request dated xxx, which allows them 40 days to send the info, and that they have x days left to comply before you complain to the IC. They are playing for time, TAKE CHARGE of the timetable.

Anything else in their letters is irrelevant at this time.

Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.

It's interesting to read all the different experiences people have with the Halifaxicon - talk about lack of continuity!!

I sent letters last week for both myself and my boyfriend. I got a reply at the weekend, similar to yours stating that I need to check my statements and can obtain copies at a cost of £5 each. I have written back to them today as I clearly quoted that I was making a Data Protection Act disclosure request and letting them know that they now have 35 days to reply before I go to the IC with my complaint.

Hopefully I won't need to wait too long, my boyfriend hasn't even had his first reply yet.
