Hi All,
I just want to know if anyone else has had a response like this,is it yet another delay tactic? it's a letter from Barclaycrud in response to my request for repayment of charges. Any advice would be appreciated.
Dear Mr ******
BARCLAYCARD SERVICES ACCOUNT NUMBER ****************
We write in response to your request for a refund of card default charges which a claims management company is seeking on your behalf.
We are responding to you as we are not able to comply either with the requirements of our identification and verification or card default refund processes without communicating with you directly. It is very important to us that we are completely satisfied as to the identity of the person making the request for information and, consequently, to whom we are making the refund. It is not appropriate for us to send any default charge refund to a third party where we cannot satisfy ourselves as to the legitimacy of the request.
We hope you will appreciate our position on this important confidentiality issue.
As a gesture of good will and without any admission of liability, we are prepared to credit your account with the difference between the charges that you have incurred and the £12 fee. Please be advised that as from 1st August 2006, Barclaycrud reduced its default fee to £12 following the publication of the OFT statement. The amount of this credit would amount to £******. The credit will show on your next statement. However, if your account is already closed, it will be necessary for you to contact usto confirm your bank sort code and account number to enable us to process a refund for you.
Yours sincerely
Vicky Reeve

First of all Claims Management Company What??? I'm not using one.
Requirements of our identification and verification EH??? I've been getting statements from them, letters from them, copies of my statements (eventually). Surely if they aren't sure it's me they should never have released this info'
As a gesture of goodwill I think they need to get a new abacus and do their sums again, however, when I checked my card balance knowing it was a zero balance it has alredy been credited with their offer (which I don't agree with) which means the card is in credit but only a portion of it would be available as cash. Why not all of it?? maybe they just want me to spend on the card which means they will make money on it.
However, if your account is now closed, WHAT???? Don't they know this already?
This infuriating, silly, letter may just have cost them more in the long run as I was happy to go for the 8% interest but now they've put my back up I think I'll go for Compound Interest which will almost double the claim.
Any advice on how to respond to this letter, or should I ignore it and send off my lba?
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Cheers, Miekel
