Hi,
Thanks for the information and comments in some of the threads I've viewed, I am now straining at the leash!
I have just looked at past statements going back to 2002, and I have some missing ones through 'til now, and none before 2002 even though my account is over 6 years. Before I send the DPA letter to get the missing statements I need to sort out this month bank charges of £245 (for DD's totatlling £112.24) !! Could I call the bank and ask them not to try and take this from my account later this month as it is not legal to do so now??
(Is "legal" the right word to use here ?)
My total so far in charges to recover is £1610
Thanks, I think the DPA letter will be my next move, is it okay to tailor it very slightly to let them know that their latest charges (that's the biggets in one hit I have experienced) has led me to investigate past history ?
I Guess you are right. I started looking for the best address in the infornmation Commission Link, but nothing for "The Woolwich" or "Woolwich" so must be the Barclays Bank address I go for. I imagine their pile of papers is waist high now!
Back on again, I am moving house so was concerned about my account being closed and getting a bad credit score. I have a new account set up just in case but I am worried about my mortgage though at this time. I think that the time it takes the bank to respond I will have moved!
MOTB, seems you have had more letters from the bank saying someone is dealing with it than would be reasonable. Is this typical?
I have complained in the past (Jan 2003) I uncovered a letter that I sent to the bank complainingof their charges applied for Nov 2002. They removed £120 from the total £240 charges as "settlement of my complaint". I did not know at the time that the "charges" were in fact penalties. Does this letter remove any chance of now getting later (and ealrleir) penalties returned? Anyone have this experience?
So much for straining at the leash! I have found nearly all statements since 2000, I don't think it necessary to ask for the whole lot copied from the bank so I will go woth what I have got. I have a second bank account set up in case things go horribly wrong. I am moving house in the next couple of months and am nervous now about creating a problem with getting a mortgage. Maybe I have to get it sorted first.
