Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've received a letter from the court, as follows -
"upon the courts own initiative it is ordered that the claim be stayed until 13th september 2007. To be referred to DJ Dudley in box-work on 13th September 2007"
I have no idea what any of this means and what, if any, action i should take.
Re: Letter from court - confused as to what it means
Also, would it be worth me writing to Abbey and telling them i am prepared to accept a reasonable offer of settlement (mostly because this whole legal battle completely baffles me and id sooner accept a smaller settlement than have nothing at all). If i were to do this, what are the chances of them agreeing, and how should i go about this?
Apologies for all the questions, im getting stressed!:? :? :?
Re: Letter from court - confused as to what it means
With my VERY limited legal jargon buster head it seems to me that they will not be doing anything with the case until the 13th September 2007, probably are going to deal with a block of similar cases on the same day I guess.
There are some very helpful people on here that know alot more regarding this than me and I m sure someone will explain it better later.
As for the settlement issue I would wait until the court date to arrive. If you are really looking for an early settlement I know that they will offer you anything from £60 upwards!!!! Like I said wait it out if I were you.
Take your time and read as many threads as you can and use the libary to download any documentation you need.
Hope this helps with the stress levels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
