Default Barclaycard - £100 offer to go away

    Hi folks,

Ive been chasing Barclaysicon since February to try and get my statements from an old account I used to have with them. The card was closed during 2004 and so I knew I would have a claim for some charges in those final years.

Basically Barclays wrote to me saying I didnt have an account with them and told me to go away. I was then lucky enough to find an old card cut up in a wardrobe, with which i duly photcopied and sent back to Barclays.

They fobbed me off with standard letters for 3 months until today I received a letter offering me £100 by way of good will and recognising my account was now closed.

What do you reckon I should do next? I still havent got any statements from them. Should I take the money and run or wait it out and reject this offer?

    Nuno

Stand your ground - get ALL your statements first, then continue with your claim.

    Good luck!

yep - start telling them you are going to get a court order to MAKE them hand over the information - they tried it with me - they sent 2-3 years worth of statements after 50 days then kept fobbing off with we are very busy and need more time when I asked for the rest - inthe end I told them they had 7 days to comply otherwise Id get a court order to make them comply - got statements withing 7 daysI think its important not to give them too much time - if you specify 14 days then after 14 days chase it up otherwise they think youre just gonna forget it - keep on at them - stick to your dates you give them! - it shouyld never have taken from February for you to just be at this stage now - go after them!

I am currently waiting on them to reply to my N1 for the rest of my statements, they will try every trick in the book to get out of sending them.

So how can they offer you £100 if they have no record of who you are?
Does that mean anyone can write to them and be offered money!?

Give them a call - bug them with calls and letters until you get them.

They are fobbing you off me thinks!

HI . really, sad, old, lonely gitt here... Can i have £100 please.........
Seriously....Sometimes i think they just "push a button" "any button" in the hope that its "close" to what you want, or, you will just, "go away"...
    Im even in correspondence with,

Sue Brown....Data Protection Administrator, Legal and Regulatory Compliance.

    What a load of tosh..

After 4 letters, 3 replies, and 4 sets of statements, ( all incomplete ), she has the front to write to me and tell me they have "COMPLIED",,,,,,,
    Yeah right....Go kick their butt

Hi, I got the same cr@p from barclaycard when I sent a DPA request with them. I didn't know the card number but suplied all my names and addresses. They wrote back after a couple of weeks saying they had no record of my account.

I called them and gave them the same information and addresses and they said it was being handled by ther debt collectionicon area and that was why they couldn't find the information. They gave me the card number.

I wrote again with the non compliance lbaicon saying that it was unacceptable saying they couldnt find my account when they found it in a couple of minutes on the phone.

I received the 2004 statements within a week but they were all blank as the aco**** was closed in 2003.

I didnt receive the earlier ones off the microfiche until yesterday which was about 6 weeks after my phone callicon (so 8 weeks wince sending DPA).

So you will get them eventually but they pay no attention to their legal time restraints.

    Hope this is helpful.

See you have 2 threads on Barclaycard, might be an idea to get them merged.

Have you got all your statements yet Nuno?

Any advice given by me is based solely on my experience in claiming, my experience in CAG or my opinion. I have no legal background. I want to encourage others to reclaim what is theirs.

Got a DCA breaking OFT guidance. Complain to the OFT about the DCA. Help put an end to these practices-

Ive ditched the other thread mate. Iam going to concentrate on this one now.

I managed to get all the statements in the end. After they said I never held an account with them...great.
