hello my first post..in january of this year i purchased a 2.2dci renault espace from JOHN LOYN CAR SALES IN CARDIFF for £5000 through welcome finance after a few days i noticed a miss on hills ,thinking this maybe turbo lag i did not think much about it but a week after i bought the car my wife told me to come out to the road outside my home were she was returning from shopping i saw masses of blue smoke coming from the engine and gallons of diesel coming from the pipes feeding the injectors [the road was a mess] i phoned the car sales and they came and picked the car up and left me with a small courtesy car 2 weeks passed and they brought the car back but the miss was worse missing in all ranges ;then after 2 weeks the pipes burst again ,they came with a car took the espace i asked them to sort the miss out aS well after two weeks pased they brought the car back and said it was i quote ;2thousand % perfect ..a few weeks passed a strange noise appeared from the engine so i phoned them they came i also told them that a front tyre and worn in 5 weeks i also was very suspicious that the engine MANAGEMENT WARNING LIGHT DID NOT WORK this being illegal i had the car back after 2 weeks still no management light working and took the car out shopping with my wife and 3 year old grandson but the engine was making a c huffing noise we phoned the garage they said no need to worry it is normal and just drive it ..on the way home going up a hill an enormous bang came from the engine and the car stopped i phoned the garage again and arranged for the R,A,C to take the car in the guy who came to pick the car up said tha t a heelicoil and came out of the cylinder head that was holding the fuel injector in i had the car back after 2 weeks again still a very bad miss and still no engine management light working i paid for the car to go to a computer diagnostic teat and they found a faulty glow plug sensor open circuit ,and the to cap it all on the way home reverse gear and 5th were not there this was diagnosed as a broken bush in the linkage i phoned the garage somewhat irate but they were getting a little different in theye attitude now saying ther was nothing more they could do so i drove around for a few weeks with no reverse no 5th gear no management light and a massive miss but the final straw was on my way home from a funeral this week the engine blew a injector pug again so the car is outside my house and cannot be used ..i phoned trading standerds who advised me to contact WELCOME and reject the car[i am still paying the monthly payments] amd ask for a refund the local manager of WELCOME phoned me and are looking into it sorry this is a long thread...any body been in this predicament before any advice will be welcome TONY
i also was very suspicious that the engine MANAGEMENT WARNING LIGHT DID NOT WORK this being illegal
Why do you believe that this is illegal?
Your post is very hard to read, and even harder to make sense of. Some full stops and paragraphs might help.
That said, you need to decide what outcome you want. Do you want the car repaired properly? Or do you want to reject it, as suggested by Trading Standards?
How long is it since Welcome's manager phoned you? Did you phone to reject the car, or do it in writing?
sorry for the punctuality ,i was told that to disconnect the ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT was illegal [obviously not in a police action way] but it is supposed to tell you any faults including dangerous faults as well
i am still waiting for finance comp to get back to me to arange transport for car to be repaired but i do not want the dealer to repaire as he as had it 5 times, i want it repaired by renault or i will reject vehicle
still waiting for WELCOME manager to phone me ,he said he would today thursday with his decision ,what a laugh no call ,i cant beileive that he thinks he can make a decision whether to take the car back .i have got a nasty shock for him if he refuses I WILL TAKE THEM TO COURT i have contacted trading standards who are with me all the way i will contact the press ,and a consumer tv program ..I am still paying £211 a month and have not missed a payment since finance start..i have given them the option 1 TAKE THE CAR TO A RENAULT DEALER AND RECTIFY [WILL COST A SMALL FORTUNE] OR2 TAKE THE CAR BACK AND REFUND ME THE PAYMENTS do you think its fair
mad because car sitting outside the house and my wife scrounging lifts to work its not fair!!!!!
