Cool BlueRuby goes back to the future!

Right, I'm about to take the plunge again! I have all my statements back to 1971 when RBSicon was Williams & Glyns so, with encouragement (and help I hope) from the BAG Admins and Mods, I am going to send a prelimary letter to RBS for the old charges. These amount to £1477.51 - not a huge amount for 35 years - but the 8% interest comes to another £1298.13. I need to check through the statements again to make sure I haven't missed anything before I send the letter though.
Thinking back, I remember that I originally opened the account with W & G because my then firm negotiated a deal whereby employees didn't pay interest on their bank account. I seem to remember you had to pay for your chequebook and writing a cheque cost you, it was reckoned, 9p or maybe that was 9d There was no overdrafticon facility and any charges for going overdrawn were really quite tolerable, even allowing for the changing £ or maybe that's just the golden glow of nostalgia Much simpler though and with no DDs, much easier to keep track of your finances.
I'll keep you posted of course.

Before you start, you do really need to make sure that you understand all of the issues and the reasoning behind section 32 of the limitation acticon 1980. You must also believe in what you are saying and the basis of your claim. If you don't do that then it is probably not worth starting.
You must also be well prepared to go to court because it is much more likely that this kind of claim will go to court than an ordinary claim for the last six years.
Having said that if you feel that you are equipped in these ways and that you are prepared for the possibility of losing the cost of making the claim itself, then you should certainly go ahead.
As you seem to be amazingly good at keeping with your paperwork, is there any chance that you have your original contract? This would be enormously useful.

I'm just in awe of anybody who has kept 35 years worth of bank statements!

    (we're not worthy ... etc).

I understand the issues of going back more than 6-years are quite complex. I hope you're done your homework?

    Good luck!
