If it is a DPA letter I wouldn't worry too much. I never sent any letters recorded and I won all my claims - though I must stress it would be prudent to send the lba at minimum by recorde delivery...
Having said that you said you already have 4 years worth of statements so you could actually send the prelim letter now for the £1100 and get a head-start.. once you receive the additional info re: the full 6 years then you can re-calculate and add on the additional charges to your LBA letter? up to you..

my partner and i both phoned head office at Barclays and the RBS for copy statements got them whithin a couple of days. i would recomend polite phone call first. the banks never charged us and my account was closed in 1998 with rbs.
hiya - good for you.
I have always assumed I would not be able to pursue my bank (Barclays) so have disposed of old bank statments. I see you were able to get hold of 4 years of statements - how?

Spend a few days reading the FAQs and try to understand the processes involved. There is a wealth of information in the forum libraries.
To get your statements, send a DPA (Data Protection Act) letter, which you will find in the Bank templates library.
Today i recieved 2 years statements from April 04 to present day, I rang customer services and politely enquired where my other 4 years statements were as I requested statements from Jan 2000.
Customer services asked me to wait a couple more days to see if they followed in the post and if they did not I am to ring back and they will re order them for me.....Barclays customer services seemed very helpfull.
I recieved the rest of my statements this morning and they attached a note saying that they are returning my cheque as the service is free.....I now have 6 years of statements I need to figure out what to do next...
take a deep breath, book a morning off work, go to WH smith and get hold of some highlighters (Stabilos are my fav). Go through the statements, and highlight all the incidents of a charge - the date and the amount. Transfer these onto the spreadsheet available in the Bank templates library.
This will give you a total amount of charges incurred along with interest based upon the 8% APR entititled to you should the claim reach county court.
You can then ammend the Prelim letter in the same library to your liking - requesting a refund of charges as you have calculated (not yet including the 8% interest total as this comes later). Send it off. Await your response.
You may wish to include a summary of charges with that letter for the Bank's reference though this is far froma requirement. Wait 14 days. If no response, then commence with the letter before action.
Keep reading the forums, improving your knowledge and confidence, and posting your progress..

Having real problems downloading the spreadsheet, I have excel on my PC but when the file downloads it aint recognised as a program, any ideas??
I got the other one which has been filled in, ive deleted the info and started to input mine, how do i work out the interest and days since offence, is there a short easy formula?
What does UNPAIDS OUT mean 1 @ £30.00, is this just a reworded bank charge??
Absolutely.
Look down the left hand side of your statements and you should see two letter abbreviations..
DD then it will say "direct debit CPW" for example for carphone Warehouse to identify the company
SO then a similar "STANDING ORDER..." and a bank identifier for the company
You are lookingfor anything that say DR CHARGE... followed by "Unpaids out or Unpaid Items or Returned Cheque or Card Misuse" anything like that.
