Thread: muggles Vs Barclay card.. they screwed me again heelp please

hiya all, i really hope someone can help me please...a lomg story but have to start at begining so you know what has happened.
i had a barclaycard but stopped recieving statements about 3 years ago i was in alot of financial trouble ( moh losing job just bought house kidz etc), prioritize n pay important bills/mortgage etc as Barclays statements stopped i soon 4got about it this year they got in touch to arrange payments which i did n kept them unfortunatly i missed 1 n got a red letter from them saying i was behind with payments ( no sh*t!!) and to phone them immediatly to make an arangement as instead of paying the agreed payment of £49 it would need £57 to bring upto date with the added daily interest. i panicked n went onto my barclays bank online to see if i could afford to pay it then n there over phone only to find out they had already took the £57 out of my account the same day the letter was recieved...a day later got another letter saying if i paid the £57 i would get a £15 refund ( bizarre!).I gave them a call n let them know i wasnt happy about how they had conducted themselves ( it took me over my o/d £30 for barclays) and to ask why i hadnt been recieving any paper statements did not get a proper answer as she wouldnt believe i hadnt recieved any. but assured me i would now be recieving regular statements. I set up a d/d with them for future payments they took them for 3 months then took no more for 3 months... still no statements... i gave them another call to find out why, they said you must have stopped the d/d ( no i hadnt not this time anyway)n that i was again in arrears AARRGH. whilst on the phone i asked if they could send me statements she said yes no problem how many dya want, knowing i was going to calim for charges i tried my luck asked for 5years,she said yes no problem i will do that for you now it is in the computer n will be with you shortly ( feeling very pleased with myself as there was no mention of cost n with the trouble some people have had getting statements from b card i awaited sed statements) WRONGGG!!!!! statments duly came through yesterday i was feeling very pleased with myself until i opened it to find my outstanding balance had grown considerably since the phone call, only to find they had charged me £144.00 for copy statments. ....furious dosnt even enter into it..... i gave them a call.. i love this site i had all the right answers in all the right places including who in thier right mind would pay £3 per statement when i can legally request the past 6years and pay £10 for them, in the end he had to agree and go find a supervisor, Big office or drawring straws 20mins later came bak with the old gem sorry although i have to agree with you it was not our office that deals with that n gave me another phone number to call n asked if i had got this number from the top of my satements ( WOT STATEMENTS).. AAARGH please help sorry it has been so long there is loadz more but thought you wuldve given up reading 5mins ago thankyou for seeing it through to the end please if anyone can help give me some leagal statments i can quote down the phone i would be verrry gratefull...

Not surprised you are hopping mad, no more 'phone calls only official letter Subject access request enclosing £10 postal order- template letter in General Debt Section, send this recorded delivery or better still although more expensive special delivery - thats when they're not on strike They have forty days to comply with this before it becomes an offence. Don't get mad get even!!!

thanx miss muppet, will do in future my more pressing problem at the moment is how do i get them to remove this £144.00 or do i have to lump it n pay?

y'see Muggles, you've done it the wrong way round really, whilst the SAR is in progress they are not supposed to put any charges etc on but as you haven't done the official letter - Barclays have to be one of the worst institutions to deal with, suppose you could try speaking to someone higher up the chain or threaten them that you will be talking to Trading Standards about it, could follow the advice I've had from another member
to-day re going through Consumer Direct, look at my threads and main man and you will see the details, definitely wouldn't pay it!
