Car at Garage for 5 weeks now garage appears to have shut up shop
Hi everyone, my Pegeout 106 broke down whilst i was on holiday in Wales (I live in York), the AA checked it out, diagnosed cylinder head gasket had blown as well as radiator. contacted local garage at York who recommended another local garage as they said they could not do the work. AA dropped car off at garage, then troubles began, after 3 weeks, and many enquiries the car was still not ready, so about 12 days ago I contacted Trading Standards via Consumer line who advised me to write to the garage stating that I expected the work done in 7 days or I would be seeking civil advice. No luck after the 7 days, tried to contact the garage at the week-end, was told that they were just refitting the cam belt. Since then I have tried to contact the garage again without success, phone just keeps ringing, called round, no one there, garage locked up, police inform me that its a civil matter, trading standards have not replied to my enquiries. Not even sure that my car is still in the garage, any advice really gratefully received

what does your ins co. say or offer
after a few unanswered letters from their legal team
i know someone that had the same sort of scenario a couple of years ago,
ins co, paid for a locksmith to break-in [police were present too] and recovered the car [though it was a £24k range-rover!].
notice of recovery [or something] was left at the premises, he never heard another thing about it.
as you are AA too what do they say, both have legal teams that you can use and might even be free.
just athought..
