Default Alliance and leicester closing ALL accounts

It was in the paper today that Alliance & Leicerster are closing ALL accounts of people who attempt to sue them, this has got mother dearest worried now because she has a lot of direct debits coming from there and it would take many phonecalls to change everything to another account, is there an easier way to switch all your DD's ? otherwise she doesnt want to continue with her action

if you open an account with another bank they will be able to switch them all over for you. Norwich and Peterborough will give you £50.00 if they do not complete it within a quick enough time frame. Good luck with the claim

Wink Re: Alliance and leicester closing ALL accounts

    Hi
After serving them with a summons they gave me back all my charges (over 600 pounds) in a cheque with a letter saying that as I clearly didnt accept their terms and conditionsicon then we needed to discuus this. I wrote back saying I hoped this wasnt a threat to close my account and if it was I would look at further legal action and complain through the Ombudsmanicon. While waiting for their own cheque to clear, they bounced a d.d and charged me 34.00 I phoned and told them I wanted it back or I would sue. I wouldnt worry about changing banks it is easy and am not convinced legally they can close an account

I have only just opened my A & L account. I am also with Nationwideicon who have been defaulting all my accounts, I am in debt up to my ears and have had to go debt managementicon, so I will be well in the poo if the A & L close this account. They have charged me £64 in charges in the last month, they said I had not got enough funds in the account but my wages had gone in the same day or the day before. The £64 would have paid a direct debiticon, but not after the charges.

i read this in the times last week...

apparantly they are just paying what is asked for.. and then giving you 30 days to leave as you breach there terms and conditionsicon...

yet to see if they make it clear exactly what terms and conditionsicon you break...

do a search on the forum for threads relating to this - there is some argument as to whether it is legal to close your account in retaliatory action.

As to moving DDs etc, when I changed banks last year, my new bank did it all for me. All I had to do was sign one form giving them permission to do it.
